Bulletin 1 - October 6th 2008

Dear Members

Most of us are familiar with the poor situation regarding UK pensions.

Anne West has received information regarding an event on 25 October from an organization called the Canadian Association of British Pensioners http://www.britishpensions.com/index2.html which may be of interest to some of you. An invitation has been extended to non members of CABP to attend this event – see details below.  The CABP are campaigning for index-linking of  Bristish pensions for those outside of UK.

RSGSH Executive

Three meetings are scheduled in Atlantic Canada at the end of October, (Halifax meeting only is shown)

The meetings will bring you up to date on the progress of the legal case and outline the provisions of the new pension act which has brought pensions within the reach of many more people.  They will also introduce a lot of valuable information for those who have not yet reached pensionable age or who have claimed their pensions in the last few years but did not make additional payments. For the next few months both these groups have a chance to increase their existing or future pensions; then the window of opportunity will close or shrink (according to the group to which you belong).

We hope you will be able to attend and bring to the meetings any people you know who may benefit from this information, especially those who have not yet reached retirement age. Meetings will last about one and a half hours.

When  - Saturday October 25th at 2.30 pm
